Freedom…Or What?

IB is finally over! Today I had my last exam, paper 3 in Chemisty, and from the moment we were asked to stop writing I couldn’t stop smiling. Knowing that all the hard work I put down during these 2 years are finally done and have hopefully paid off…it’s just a great feeling.

Still, I have a hard time grasping what this means. I feel this emptiness inside me and I do not know what to do. I have a list of hundreds of things I want to do, but where to start? I want to spend time outside and enjoy the summer that is coming, read a lot of books, for example Game of thrones, watch tv-series over and over again (I will continue write about the episodes of Criminal Minds and Supernatural where I left off)…maybe the best thing will be to wake up every morning without having any anxiety at all! Well, I needed to start somewhere, so I have now for a while watched all the highlights over and over again from yesterdays hockey game between Sweden and Canada. I love wasting my time on nothing  xD

However, Is this freedom? I love having a schedule to follow and functions best when everything is planed. What happens when I can do whatever I want? honestly, I may regret saying this, but I promises that after a couple of days I will be bored. IB is hell, yes, but it is also so much more. IB prepares you for studies on universities better than most other schools. You know that even though the exam did not go very well you still have learnt a lot. There is a special atmosphere around IB too, it is a community that comes together through this struggle. IB memes are an example of this where they put up jokes about IB that is soooo true, and mostly only IB students understands them. I’m going to miss my classmates a lot since there is a specially type of people choosing IB. No normal or healthy person chose IB freely. So I guess we are a bunch of weirdos, however the smartes and best weirdos I know !

This is another chapter of my life that I’m done with and it’s not going to be easy to leave it. It has given me so many good memories and knowledge. Now I am looking forward to what’s next. In July I will receive the results from exams and also be informed wether I have gotten in to any universities in Sweden. Exciting, Exciting…..I’m so going to watch Supernatural for the whole weekend B)

Mösspåtagning

Today, 30 of April, is the day when everyone are allowed to put on their graduation hats for the first time. According to tradition you should keep the hat on until graduation. However, it is just a tradition not something people actually do (as far as I know). 😉

Putting on the hat is a ceremony that shows that you are done with school and that you can graduate. That is the irony with it since my exams starts on friday and right now I have no idea if I will pass or not (even though I feel quite comfortable and safe with saying that I will at least pass). 17 of May is my last exam and I just want to start taking them in order to fully enjoy the life of a graduate in Sweden! 🙂

Last week another chapter of my life was sealed. I had my last concert in Nacka music school. It was a concert for everyone that graduate from the music school this spring. It felt wonderful to show what I had learnt through  all these years of playing piano, but it was also nice to say that I have accomplished something with my life. Now this chapter is closed (although I will continue play at home) and I can focus on discovering a new part of life. I want to say thank you to my amazing teacher that have made me enjoy playing and helped me to develop my skill.

Life’s perfect

Now all my internal assessments are done; I had my last today which was english individual oral. It went great according to my teachers so I hope for an okay grade! I’m just so happy for the moment and enjoying myself. The weather is perfect too. We have plus degrees outside for the first time in a while, the sun is shining and I get to be cool and wear my sunglasses.

I celebrated my school work with the first ice cream for the season. Now I have a season with lots of ice cream to look forward to 😀

Graduation Hats

Studentmössa 1

Today our graduation hats arrived to school as a reminder of how little time is left of school. Two days ago I had my Swedish individual oral, so now I only have English individual oral left before exams. The time is just running away, soon I will be a graduated student from the “gymnasium”, as it is called in Sweden. 😀

IB exam Graduation is a big deal in Sweden and we celebrate it based on old traditions. The graduation hats is one part of the old traditions; the design has been pretty much the same since the 1900-century. The difference is that today you can spend thousand Swedish crowns on a branded hat with a lot of decorations on it. My hat did not cost that much but it still has a touch of Lovisa in it. For example I chose a pink color on the lining while most students have a blue and yellow inside.

Studentmössa 4

It feels silly to spend too much money on a hat you will wear like two or three times in your life, but it’s a tradition and they are kind of cool. They are very good-looking for being a graduation hat 😛  Other Swedish traditions regarding graduation are:

  • each class has its own truck (we call it flak) and then they take a ride round the city and drink beer and play loud music. (this is not what I look forward to the most :P).
  • the girls should  wear white dresses
  • each class has its own “skiva”, which is a party at a restaurant or a club, which starts with a dinner for parents and siblings and then they go home and your friends arrive. Then the party start.
  • you are not supposed to wear your hat before graduation, if you test the hat you will get bad luck….but everyone still test the hat before graduation once or twice. Guess bad luck is not very freighting.

The funniest part for me, as an IB students, is that I will do all these activities after exams but before I know if I graduated or not. Not until July will the test results be published and I will know whether I passed or not. xD

Studentmössa 3

Now I have spent almost 700 Swedish crowns on my hat, 400 Swedish crowns will the “flak” cost and then I need to by a dress….All this money wasted and then I may end up not graduating. This is going to be fun xD

Studentmössa 2(The light blue color on the ribbon and on the flower is the IB color) ^_^

Reaching the end…

Wihoo, Mocks is finally over and I do not have any lessons until monday next week so I’m taking a small break. I will travel to Västervik by bus for 4 hours tomorrow and visit my boyfriend 😀

Also, my EE is almost done, everything is written, now I just wait for the final comments on it from my supervisor and next week TOK essay should be done!….I am actually seeing a light in the end of the tunnel.

Earlier today I watched SPN 8×12 As time goes by, and I thought it was kind of okay, I almost liked it. The funny part is that Sam and Dean always meet their grandparents through time travelling. This is of course not so strange since all their relatives are dead, but still, it is kind of funny 😛 This episode gave me some hope for the series. I though it was interesting with the new information about their legacy. Their grandfather was a part of Men of letters, which documented the supernatural world. Sam and Dean should have been a part of this “organization”, and so their father, but since Henry Winchester disappear when Johan was young they were never taught about Men of letters and their secrets. This episode was interesting since it gave us more background information about the history of the Winchester family. Also, the information revealed in today’s episode will probably have an impact on what will happen later during the season.

Now, I will watch another episode of the episodes I missed from past weeks, since I have regained my need of watching  SPN ^_^

Name days

Name Day presents

Today I bought presents to my siblings since both of them had their name days recently. Actually, it feels a bit silly but this give me an opportunity to make a joke out of it 😉  Also, I just love to give things away and even if it is just a small gift it is always nice to show your appreciation towards someone.

Yup, it is two super-cute package above and the wrapping is a part of the joke too, for example one of my sibling is a 16-year-old boy 😉 Make sure not to tell them about this secret until Saturday when they will get it. I’ll just say one thing at that is that the package contain something  geeky and do come in pieces…well that ended up being two things! 😉

Maybe the funniest part of this is that I actually have a life outside IB, but seriously you just have to plan your schoolwork and then you will have 10 minutes left to go shopping ^_^ You know, now I even have 10 minutes to go and make myself some tea xD

The power of my EE

How come one day can start so happy and full of life and then end up So tired and lost all the good mood?

My day stared with a book seminar on the Swedish lesson. That was rather productive and interesting! Then I sat for several hours and wrote on my Extended essay, and do you know how easily an EE can suck out all the energy of your body?! It is amazing how easily the EE could take me down. After I came home I have been so tired that I couldn’t do anything xD The positive thing here is  that my EE is soon finished!

Except the EE I also had an useless psychology lesson where we were suppose to review abnormal psychology but ended up doing nothing since our teacher did not really have a clue of what we were doing 😛 Last, I had Chemistry which also ended up in nothing so that was when I gave up and left the lesson and went home. At that time, around 4 o’clock I seriously had no sprite left for anything, I was practically dead. Not even my yoghurt with a lot of happy bacteria for my stomach helped. 😛

So I ended up watching a another good episode of criminals minds from season 8 called “The Fallen”. It was a Rossi centric episode about the American soldiers in the Vietnam war. A very well written and produced episode with a lot of emotions in it. To some extent the unsub was a bit left outside the story, they did not put so much attention on him. I was rather surprised when they caught him since I did not pay any attention towards him. I thought the just started the case xD But the story between Rossi and the marine sergeant were great!

Right now I watch Big Bang theory season 3 as my bedtime story (hihi), but Sheldon is such an amazing character and he give me so much laughter and energy. So I hope he will cheer my up 😀  The episode I am watching right now is the one in which the are flying kites and try to take down each others kites down.

While flying kites Leonard says:

“Why wouldn’t Penny want her friends to meet me?”

Sheldon answer:

“Focus, Leonard, focus.”

Sheldon:

“The heat of battle is upon us. The dogs of war are unleashed.”

Leonard:

“Maybe Koothrappali’s right, maybe I embarrass her.”

Sheldon:

“You are embarrassing me right now. A grown man worrying about such nonsense. We’re in the middle of flying kites.”

I’m going to be surprised if I survive IB without being damaged for life, but maybe Big Bang Theory will help me through the last part so I at least will survive. Hey, I have almost handed everything in, it is just revision left, Easy…. xD

Biggest Christmas tree and ice skating

Today I enjoyed a whole afternoon with no IB or studying. Instead, me and some classmates went into town after school to go Ice skating in Kungsträdgården. It is a big thing for us to take time to hang out after school. We are all busy studying usually! 😛

When walking from Slussen to Kungsträdgården, we stopped to look at the gigantic Christmas tree they have placed near the water. It is said to be the highest Christmas tree in the world ever. I don’t know if it is true, but it is a big tree for sure!!!Julgran, skeppsbron

This is just the bottom of the tree! My friends stand to the left looking up ^_^

Then we went ice skating, and there were a lot of people there. Mainly school children and tourists. You needed to be very careful while skating since there were children everywhere and they just loved to throw themselves onto to ground, and they did not see anyone else than themselves. Suddenly a child could throw itself right in front of you, just like they do on the picture below. xD So when we tried to not fall, they did everything to fall, EVERYWHERE!

Children throwing themselves

The tourists seemed to have a lot of fun too. There where this one guy who was so afraid of stepping onto the ice. A swedish guy helped him and hold him in the beginning and then tried to teach the turist how to skate. Finally, he  dared to take small steps on his own, but it didn’t go fast 😉

I think we all had a good time, until my feet turned into ice 😛 But then we went and took a “fika” and watched the Christmas decorations at NK, this big and exclusive shopping center near Kungsträdgården. Thanx for a wonderful afternoon ❤
